HOLLOW HOWL
Hollow Howl plays dark rock n' roll rich in reverb and rhythm. Rachel brings her full, raw vocals to the band.
Her lyrics express the magic of love and the depth of family, and the courage and mysteries within a lived life. She weaves songs from tales of wild animals and wild flowers, stars and planets, mythic landscapes, parents and their children. Wise, joyous, brave, downcast, and romantic, these are the characters found in her lyrics.
Each band member has deep roots in earth repair and farming, which inform the lyrical imagery of our songs as well as the organic complexity of our music, like a rich rocky soil or weathered, gnarled tree trunk. Imagine the darker strains of older folk music, blues, and Spanish guitar, and meld them with post-punk intensity and you get Hollow Howl.
