Three People, Three Weeks on the Road

We have been on the road three weeks today. We have experienced snow, rain, and wind. We dodged wildfires. We drove past a small one on a grassy median today, or was it yesterday? Today is the first day that we began to unravel... just a bit. Just frayed at the edges, just the littlest bit.

Perhaps it is the pull of home, or the wall of snow that stands between us and home. Or, the return to winter. Or, three weeks in the truck. Or, three weeks together. Or, all the lunch meat meals while driving.

Before leaving I wondered, What if we get sick? Get sick twice? Fight? Get bored? Get lonely? Need solitude and have none? Have to deal with our business while on the road? All happened. It was fine.

Here's what we did today. Missouri Botanical Garden's Shaw Nature Reserve. Three decades of restoration and stewardship (they did a prescribed burn yesterday!). A wonderful children's area. Nice trails. Right off I-44.

Not my tears, my runny nose.

I took a photograph of myself like this when I was in my early twenties. I like to take the same photographs over time. I looked just as old then.
