I may start recommending books, now and then. Perhaps my guide will be: Got this at the library and I would consider buying it. So, here you go:
Amanda Palmer's book, The Art of Asking or How I learned to Stop Worrying and Let People Help.
I have never really liked (reading or writing) didactic writing, nor (reading or writing) book reviews. Here's what I can do. I can broadly tell you what I like. My favorite books often make me laugh and cry. They are well-told heartfelt and personal stories. They have something to teach me.
This book has all that.
Amanda focuses on her creative life as a musician and performer, relationships, her well-known TED talk, her marriage to famous writer Neil Gaiman, writing... it's all in there.
Let me know if you read it. Comment below or email me.
p.s. My husband, Jared, read it, too. It was actually "his" library book, until I "stole" it from him. We stole it back and forth until we both finished it while traveling. The Art of Asking or How I learned to Stop Worrying and Let People Help made for many good conversations.
